Fall 2021 Opportunities
Louisiana Tech is excited to offer several opportunities during Fall 2021 for GEAR UP districts! These opportunities are made available by SciTEC in the College of Education through a USDOE grant provided by the LOSFA division of the Louisiana Board of Regents.
We have opportunities for both students and teachers and are always looking for collaboration of ideas on additional offerings you would like to see! If you have any questions or ideas for future offerings, please email us at gearup@latech.edu.

Virtual Career Expo
This event was all about connecting high school learners with opportunities to learn more about education and career opportunities right here in our state of Louisiana. We wish that all of our Louisiana high school students can become the best that they can grow into being the innovative, creative and impactful thinkers, problem solvers, and strong community and corporate leaders that lead our state to prosperity. We think programs like this can help do just that.
For September 2021 was dubbed Career Awareness Month and was to prepare students to the business of their choice. Engineering & Cyber Security Mini Camp
C2S Engineering and Cyber Security mini camp was held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Neville High School, Monroe, Louisiana. This opportunity was offered to the junior and senior GEAR UP students.
The content was prepared using historical facts and real world locations. The students who participated in the program, learned about addressing a real world security breach and how to use clues to lead them to the solution of the crime. The students were given a series of clues and they worked together to solve the crime. The day was interesting and fun and a great way for students to learn about educational opportunities they can pursue as they move toward their college or junior college. In the end, the students were guided to know if their solutions were feasible and were advised through the steps to make sure they had solved the mystery correctly to identify how security had been breached and what we should do in this type of situation.

Our utmost gratitude for the federal grant funds that are funneled through Louisiana and handled by Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance that made this mini camp a reality, along with the partnership of Monroe City Schools, the Louisiana Tech University Team, and Neville High School.
